I love that I can quickly store newly purchased floss. It's easy to flip through to see all the colours and to find what I'm looking for when starting a new project. The bags are roomy enough to hold multiple skeins. I currently have 2 rings to hold all the dmc flosses and they are stored in a clear plastic tote with a lift out tray at the top for stitching necesseties.
I researched many options for floss storage and decided I didn't want to have to wind the floss around a bobbin (too many kinks on the floss and too much time spent not stitching).

I love having a way to organize my floss. Maybe I won't overbuy in the future since I'll be able to see what I have. Keep those little paper rings that tell you the number of each color (DMC). I bought more 3-inch hinged metal rings so I have one for each color group. I'll even have room for all those stray bits leftover from who knows what-or when. Cross stitch isn't an expensive craft if you use what you already have. I'm going to make a ring and label it "Current Project" and pull together all the colors I'll need. I'm even going to add little temporary tags to each bag that shows the color symbol from the chart. That will save me a lot of searching.

For years I've stored my floss in those storage drawers that you get at the hardware stores, but they're a little too short for the floss to lay flat. I don't like the cards that seem to be popular and have been looking for an alternative. The Floss-A-Way bags are the best alternative that I've found. I love that I don't have to wind the floss around cards. Unused strands can go in the bag with the skeins. I have all my floss in bags stored in clear plastic storage containers that make it easy to get to all of my thread. Now if someone would just make storage containers that are the right size to hold the Floss-A-Way bags the ones I got are a little too wide, it would be perfect.

I find these bags to be sturdy and the best way to store floss when using many colors for a project. Small pieces can be kept for later use and the floss doesn't get tangled.

The Floss-A-WAy bags are the most essential stitching gadget other than my needles. I always write the date of purchase on the outside - so I'll be able to avoid dye lot mix-ups. When I'm dealing with more than one dyelot on some Au Ver A Soie, I may have as many as 6 or 7 dyelots in my stash there is room in the bag to include a post-it telling me in what area I have used that dye lot - great is I have to go back to an area for any reason -- and all kept together, not noted in another place.

Floss is easily stored and identify. No need to do any wrapping around little boards. Bags also work for small incidentals that make stitching easier.

the only way to store floss in my estimation, keeps it clean and leftover pieces can be put back in the bag for a time when you just need a short piece.
